Mine Lifter

The Mine lifter is ideally used in areas where collateral damage to the immediate area, for example infrastructure, must be avoided. It is used for AT mines and UXO.

Technical Description

Mine lifter grips on top and side of mine away from mechanisms;

4 Sharpened pins ensure secure grip on mine;

Upright lever lifts mine from position.

Recommended Operating Procedure

Once the object has been identified, the soil around the object must be removed without disturbing the object.

Clear a furrow to expose the rim of the mine/UXO according to your SOP.

Uncoil the rope that will be used to pull the Mine lifter, following the safe lane, before being attached to the Mine lifter. Attach the rope to the Mine lifter, through the hole at the top.

Open the Mine lifter by depressing the lever at the handgrip to fit the rim of the mine/UXO.

Lower the Mine lifter until it straddles the mine/UXO and use the black handgrip to GENTLY close around the rim of the mine/UXO. The Mine lifter should be placed in such a way that when the rope is pulled, force is applied in the same direction to the Mine lifter (see sketch).

Retreat the prescribed safe distance through the safe-lane; sit on the ground facing the mine/UXO, pull the rope taut.
